How We Got Glow Sticks and Glow Toys

Filed under: Glow Sticks — admin @ 6:29 am

Have you ever wondered where glow sticks first got their start? They may have been inspired by nature's unique light shows. In nature, we've seen animals, insects, and micro organisms that literally light up the world around them. The most familiar bioluminescent creatures are glow worms and fireflies, who through biochemical means, produce light. The creatures use bioluminescence to attract prey, repulse predators, and for camouflage. Illumination is used for everything from eating and mating, to basic survival. (more...)

Safety First: the practical uses of glow sticks

Filed under: Glow Sticks — admin @ 7:09 am

Safety First, Never last, Have a Future, Not a Past!

Glow sticks are not just for parties and fun, they are also practical solutions in emergencies, and are great ideas for bicycle safety, hiking, camping, and for children. Black outs, chemical spills, or any other issue that results in loss of power or the inability to leave one’s home should be reason enough to have a few glow sticks on hand. Organizing an emergency kit for times of unexpected crisis is not a trend widely followed in America, but with the Red Cross responding to more than 700,000 emergencies every year, this trend will hopefully be reversed. Even having a few glow sticks on hand in the office is great preparation for an emergency, and there’s no need to worry about batteries to keep your power source going. (more...)

Get Ready for This Year's Summer Events

Here's a money making tip for you this year.

Here at Premier Glow we've found that a number of people are buying glowsticks, necklaces, bracelets, and sometimes body lights at wholesale prices and in turn re-selling them at a profit at events. Summer time functions are usually the best time to try this money making idea.

What you'll need: something to efficient carry money and your glow novelties and an event. How much do you make? Depends on what you want to make! The value of glow sticks re-selling is up to you. Usually $1-2 each for a large glow stick, if not more, is reasonable. (more...)

The Magic of Glow in the Dark Chemistry

Filed under: Glow Sticks — admin @ 12:01 pm

Children are absolutely fascinated by things that seem out of place and somehow magical. For most, this includes things that glow in the dark. Fireflies flashing on the edge of a meadow seem almost fairy-like as their lights appear and disappear.

Even glow in the dark toys and novelties seem to hold a similar magic for kids when they are out at night for a special event like the annual Fourth of July fireworks display at the local fairgrounds. At events like these, kids clamor for glow in the dark necklaces, bracelets, and glow sticks. It isn’t really magic, but rather the application of a very specific chemical reaction that makes both fireflies, and glowing novelty items shine so brightly. (more...)

What Are Glow Sticks With Tinted Casings?

Filed under: FAQ, Glow Stick Fundraising, Glow Sticks — admin @ 3:40 pm

There has been a lot of talk on different websites about glow sticks manufactured with tinted casings. What are tinted casings? The manufacturer makes light sticks with colored plastic to produce colors that use red. Most of the time purple, orange, red, pink, and blue is manufactured with tinted casings due to licensing issues with the red dye patent.

As we know the color red is used in small portions to make many other colors. In this case one company has patented red dye for glow sticks in the United States. In order to avoid having to pay to use the patent for the red dye Chinese manufacturers use tinted casings.

What does all this mean for the consumer? Glow sticks manufactured with tinted casings have an inferior glow. Our light sticks do not use tinted casings. We only sell premium quality glow products using clear plastic tubing.
